REPORT: The Case of Mustafa Ulaşlı

"A Defamation Campaign Against A Coronavirus Expert and The Unending Dehumanization of Turkey's Dismissed Public Sector Workers"

A Turkish geneticist with a PhD on coronavirus, Mustafa Ulaşlı was one of the 130,000 former public sector employees who were summarily removed from public service in the aftermath of a failed coup attempt in July 2016.

He recently offered his assistance to Turkish authorities dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, which led to a wave of defamation that exposed several characteristics of the ongoing dehumanization of Turkey's purged public sector workers.

Solidarity with OTHERS published a report analyzing the smear campaign that targeted him in the wider context of the inhumane treatment of purged public sector workers.
